You have the dream; you’ve started it. You see everything going well. Then the wall hits. I’m not sure what your wall is. I do know that if you do not find a way to work through the walls you are presented with, you will face those walls again.
The entrepreneur lifestyle is not full of things you can be certain of. But I can tell you of two of them. First you will face a wall, a challenge that will either knock you down or make you stronger. Second, if you let the wall defeat you then for sure it will come back again.
Over the years the one challenge that I have faced frequently was the balance of the job and the business. When I started my first side business in the early ‘90s, I ran into this wall in many different ways.
It sucked to have an employer tell me that I had to choose working for him or my side business. It’s lucky that our world has changed and this is not as big a problem with employers as it was 20 years ago. More and more companies have to let employees have something on the side because it is so important to spend spare time getting education as our world is changing so fast.
For some, the challenge of a job for many wantrepreneurs is that they get stuck in the security of that job and never learn to take chances again. This doesn’t happen to all who have jobs, but many face this.
This is why I teach the idea that being an entrepreneur is not a job or a career; it is a lifestyle. Entrepreneurs have something built inside them that makes them want a challenge. They are not looking for income but for the challenges of building something. They enjoy thinking and creating solutions for problems that get to them.
If you have read the posts this week and find that you have hit the wall in any of these areas, or you want to get past the challenges and live the entrepreneur lifestyle, then maybe it’s time to get that coach that can look at what it takes to go to the next level in your business venture.
Today’s post is about how jobs can keep you from becoming successful as an entrepreneur; however I am not one of those coaches who tell you quit your job and go for your dream. I tell both my clients and those who attend my seminars they must plan the exit strategy from the job. It’s not usually a situation where you can just walk away and solutions will be provided.
No matter what the wall is that you are facing, you need to make the plans that will take you past them. That is the reason I created my “Kick-Start Your Dream” coaching program, to get the process started and have a plan in place over the next two years. If you would like to find out more, send me a message through the contact page to see if this program is what you need to get past your wall.
