daytona13As I was watching a soccer match on the TV in a bar, I noticed after the match all the players walking by, shaking the other team’s hands. The statement made to everyone of those players was “good game.”

That is a good statement to make, if you played your best game and you know your opponent did as well. However too many times in our world of entrepreneurs, people don’t come out to play the best game.

I can’t say, “It doesn’t matter if you win or lose.” It’s not true. You go in to win. ~Katarina Witt

There is no shame in losing if you know that you gave it your best. As entrepreneurs there will be many times we lose. Failure and loss are what get us to learn and build again. When you lose a game and you are the one shaking the hands of the other team, when you know you gave your best on the field, it is a respectful handshake; you know you met someone who just taught you your strengths and weakness.

In every game we play, we must give our all, win or lose, and learn from every experience. If you have been more on the losing side of some games lately in your business, are you looking at your strengths and weaknesses?

Why are you getting or not getting the success you need right now? A hard fact for the entrepreneur is being in the game and losing. You need to realize either you didn’t give your all or your all was just not the best that was needed, wasn’t enough.

The truth is, in many businesses it’s not like that game on the soccer field. You may not be competing against another team. The winning and losing is not about beating another team. Winning to you may be about moving forward with a successful business plan or winning new customers and clients.

In your business you must define winning and losing. You must realize there is no such thing as losing if you use that information to improve. But you must enter the game with the thought of winning. You must bring your winning game; you must give 100% in all you do. The idea that you can work for a while and then just take it easy once you reach a certain point will not work for an entrepreneur.

So do you need to put more into your game? Now is the time for a check-up. If you are not going into the game to win, you are planning on losing. If you are losing and not learning from it, you are wasting valuable education.
