Well, it’s that time where we see the political stage get heated up. So I decided to close out a week of places we need entrepreneurs with the one place that they’re really needed.

Now before I get everyone upset with this one, today’s post is not about the choice you should make between Romney and Obama. This is about how all our government offices from a city council to president should develop the entrepreneur mindset.

So many of those who are in offices have not spent enough time solving problems; they make laws and it seems they talk more about how we need to change something and spend less time actually changing it.

I posted a comment on my Facebook page a week ago about how many people will spend more effort making posts on social media, fighting with those who have opposite views, than actually doing anything to make change happen. I wrote that post to get people to realize that no matter who is president, no matter who your governor is, you should be out changing your world.

And I feel the same about our political leaders – that politicians should spend less time pleasing the people who fund them and less time fighting the other party. We need them to change their mindset to that of an entrepreneur by building a country that helps people create more for themselves.

We need to remember the one thing I was taught about politicians: they are our employees. We need to ask our employees, the politicians, to start performing, to think like entrepreneurs to create a better world. If they do not do what we ask, if they become more about the party they are part of, or more about the things that really don’t matter, then it’s time to remove them and elect new people to serve.

So, what do you think would be a great description of entrepreneurs in politics? Let me know in the comments section below and have a great weekend.

I agree with a lot of things said on this post. I think it is a complete waste of time when Romney and Obama spend their time pleasing their funders instead of tackle real life problems that need solutions.
