I have to be honest with you; this idea was taken from the movie, The Pursuit of Happyness. It’s based on the story of Chris Gardner, who inspires us to believe that, no matter how hard it gets, you must — and I say again must — never give up.

Today, our reason to never give up will come from the story of Chris Gardner, a man who faced more uphill struggles than most of the success stories you have ever read. The movie showed more struggle than victory; some people could not relate to it. But for me — like I mentioned yesterday — your story could be an inspiration for others that follow you, in this case for someone who you have never met.

In the movie they show Chris trying to solve the puzzle of the Rubik’s cube. I remember when that fun toy came to America. It was not an unsolvable puzzle or game but many could not seem to get it. I recall those who said they had a system. I recall those who told you how to do it with shortcuts of remove the stickers and replace them to make it seem like you had solved it. Then there was the shortcut of removing all the blocks and clicking them back into place so it showed you solved the puzzle.

The struggle you are facing right now may seem to be just like that puzzle; you may feel it just can’t be done; you may feel you have to find the shortcuts. I will tell you to solve these troubles by going straight through them.

You see, if you learn to solve the hard puzzles and never give up — like Chris –- no matter what life sends you, you will be able to solve it. If you give up and take the easy road, take the shortcut, give up to try something that is easier, you will shortcut your success as well.

The lessons from great movies like this do not end when the movie ends. These people went on to solve tougher problems and they went to higher success. The glory part of their story might make the movie version but the real life version is just like solving the Rubik’s cube.

That game, the Rubik’s Cube, is close to 40 years old now. Today, if you picked up one you could probably figure it out much faster than you could back in then. You see, once we solve a puzzle of life and inspire others to do the same, our lessons from the struggle help others and ourselves to reach a higher success faster.

So if you are about to give up, if you do not solve the very struggle or problems you are facing, think of the inspiration others will miss out on in the future (as we spoke of yesterday). Those that may struggle the most may be those who are closest to you. So again, inspire others by never giving up.
