More and more people are making excuses and wondering why they never find the success they are looking for.
Ninety-nine percent of failures come from people who have the habit of making excuses. ~ George Washington Carver
Now look over your past three months and see how many times you have made excuses. I know everyone who just read that is telling himself or herself, “But something came up and I had to deal with it.”
I once heard the story of Donald Trump telling how he walked by a man who was homeless. He said, “That man is richer than I am.” It was then that Donald shared how he was $93 million in debt and that man was at zero. Trump was $93 million below zero.
But that’s not the great part of Donald’s story. The great part is that he was looking at ways to get out of his circumstance. During this time, he went to a dinner event he did not want to attend. It was at that event he met the person who helped make the deal that started his climb back to success.
When my mentor, Craig, told me to start my live events, he also told of the hundreds of people who would pay for a ticket to come to his event each year and then make excuses of why they could not actually attend – even after paying for tickets. Successful people find a way; excuses are made by all the others.
It’s time for a call to action. How many times in the past three months have you committed to something, then backed out at the last minute? People are looking for business leaders they can count on. If you have built a reputation that says people can count on you, success is coming your way. As Zig used to say, “See you at the top.”
