Yes, it’s time for another one of my “Relax, dude” speeches. I know you never expect to hear someone who is pushing you to build your entrepreneur empire telling you to relax. But remember, I’m all about changing the things that do not work and doing more of the things that do work.
Over the years, the times I was pushing myself the hardest are when I got to the overwhelmed state. It’s that feeling that I was always behind and it seemed that no matter how much I did, more kept getting thrown on me.
Well, the feeling we recognized on Monday and started learning to put in its place on Tuesday is the feeling I said would work its way back into every step we are facing to overcome it. Today is no different. We need to have a steady, forward progress, step by step. We need to not let others jump in to take us off the track of the dream and goal we have set for ourselves. But we are still going to get that feeling, and at the end of the day we need to relax.
This feeling often has deep roots and we must find all the ways we can to combat it by building the dream while it keeps coming at us. I know on those hard days where I seem to have so many things come at me, sometimes I just take an hour nap. It makes the world of difference to set aside that tired feeling.
Another thing is when these feelings are working at you, then you need to make your day a little shorter. Yes, that means going to bed maybe an hour earlier. Getting that extra hour of sleep while you are faced with working on many tasks at the same time will help you to stay focused during the day so you’ll work more effectively and get more done in less time.
Working less when you are stressed will help you to rebuild faster than just working day and night to make it happen. I know this to be true; in my life I carry so much and working sometimes until 1 am then getting back up at 8 just makes for more stress.
I know how you feel when you want to get that side venture going and yet you still want to have a life with your family. Still you cannot enjoy a life you build if you are not here to enjoy it. So today we say take it easy and relax. Doing this along with the smaller steps mentioned on Tuesday will help to get you through the overwhelmed feeling faster and bring back the balance.
