Well we have reached the mid week. It’s Wednesday, or hump day to those who are just trudging along in this world, waiting for the weekend. I’m sitting today in the biggest McDonald’s in the entire United States. It’s in the Heritage District of downtown Irving, TX. I wanted to write this post from here for a reason. It’s a great place to cover the subject of starting over and how important it is to have a big dream when you do.
Yesterday, we talked about how those who have a powerful dream or purpose never get caught up in the fact that they just failed. They see it as a speed bump; it slowed them down for a moment. But right after that failure happened they found another form of power and hit the gas.
So I ask you: do you have a dream, passion, or purpose that drives you yet? Are you working toward something that is so important you won’t let a speed bump keep you from ultimately achieving that goal? If you don’t, now is the time to get a big dream. Why you ask? Well I want to bring back the reason I am sitting in this place to tell you about this. Once, a small time milkshake machine salesman had a big dream. It was so big that even he may not have see the full possibilities of it. Today, I’m sitting here because of his dream, because someone named Ray Kroc got the idea to buy a McDonald’s franchise and make it the biggest one there is.
In fact, Ray Kroc pursued a number of businesses before finally realizing McDonald’s was the route that would help him achieve success. Did you know that among the jobs and fields he tried were: paper-cup salesman; musician; radio; restaurants (where he learned the business) and milk-shake machine salesman. In fact, it was the imminent failure of his milk-shake machine line that led him into his partnership with the McDonald’s Brothers .
So if you are reading this and thinking about starting over, why not have a big dream while you’re doing it? What if you come up with a dream that is so big that it outlasts your time on this earth? I believe that God has given each of us a dream, which is to fulfill His purpose on this earth. If you keep ignoring that dream that is inside you, pushing you right now as you read this, then your spirit will feel this same deflation the next time your idea fails and you are left to start over again.
In 2005 when my last crash happened, I looked at what I wanted to do and decided I wanted to start a big dream. That is why you are reading this very post. It was part of my big dream to become a Life Coach. I chose to take each step one at a time, doing what I enjoy along the way. I did that knowing that this idea, those things that I’ve written, will outlive me. I did it believing that someday people will read something I wrote or remember something I said at a meeting and will be helped to do something great. I love knowing people I have coached to be big dreamers have become world changers.
Even while I sit here, I’m listening to two men talk. One is telling the other about all the races that he has been to visit. He’s listing all the people he has met at the race track, how much he knows about the sport of NASCAR. The other man just asked his friend: “You know so much about racing, did you ever drive a race car?” The first man got all upset with him.
I have shortened what was said. But think about this if you take your dream from wanting to go visit the sporting event, to being in the sporting event. That is what I decided to do last year as I pursued my dream. I took a chance. After almost five years at Starbucks, I left my secure job with health benefits and good pay to put my full efforts into Rocker Life Coach. Now I’m living my dream, doing things that matter to me and in the process, changing the world of my partner and me.
Let me leave you with this: think back to the very beginning of the movie Pretty Woman. The elderly gentlemen walks down Hollywood Boulevard and says “What’s your dream? This is Hollywood everybody who comes to Hollywood has a dream. What’s yours?”
As I said yesterday Joan Jett knew her dream and never let it go. Today’s featured person, Ray Kroc, knew a dream. Both of these people redefined their field. What is your dream today? How are you going to change your world this time? What will be the one thing that will drive you through every up and every down in life from here on out?
Tell me what your dream, your passion is. Email me or leave it in a comment to this post. Today I’m going to ask for feedback and this feedback will be what makes up the weekend post on Saturday. Leave your comment today to be part of our weekend post.
I’m Tim Gillette the Rocker Life Coach. I’m telling you: it is your time to Live the life you always wanted, Love what you do and those you do it with. Let us help you become the RockStar in your world.

Scrolling through the blogs, I saw the multi-milk shake maker. I knew you had to have something about Ray Kroc in your story. Awesome!
Oh and my dream is to be a source of enlightenment, empowerment, and entertainment for others. Educating them on ways to be the best THEM they can be, by providing the platform to go to the next level–Be it, work from home, self development or encouragement.
