Our week of setting up a RockStar coaching system is coming to a close. This is where you are going to face some fears. The biggest fear most people have is speaking in front of people. Well this is a great place to build a coaching business.
I have been through so many trainings for speaking that it became a natural thing for me to get up in front of a crowd. Being a good public speaker will boost your coaching career. In fact, I enjoy it more than most of the other parts of my work. I want to share two great areas for improving your speaking skills:
1. Toastmasters. This is an international club that helps you with speaking. Many of the seasoned people from these clubs become professional speakers and train others at their own events, coaching people to become speakers. They have done wonders for my Friend Walt Grassl.
2. Speaker boot camps and seminars. These boot camps and seminars come in 2 forms, those that teach speaking skills like Maurice DiMinio Million Dollar Message Boot-Camp held in Los Angeles every spring and fall. And then the building a business of speaking boot camps would be James Malinchak big Money Speaker Boot Camp.
One of the most important parts of building your speaking skills is practicing. There are so many ways to do this. Many people who hate public speaking start by making videos and being on internet radio. That is a good way to break the ice of speaking. Now Here are some other opportunities to get more practice speaking in public:
1. Speaking at events. If you have overcome the fear of speaking in front of people, then make yourself available to speak at chamber events, networking events, training events – anyplace that provides an opportunity. These events will may be as small as 20 attendees, maybe as large as 100 or more.
2. Speaking on webinars or telesummits. Both of these are ways to reach a crowd with your message. But not unlike the public speaking, these are done from your home or office. You are speaking to a group but it’s just not in front of you. (I know many who love these so they can sit at home in their comfy pajamas and talk to a large group.)
So that’s the close of our week on coaching tools. There are so many tools that could be used to build a coaching business. If you think coaching is for you then you need to do some more research. The first time I heard Zig Ziglar tell me that I would be a good speaker and coach, I wasn’t even sure what coaching was. He told me to go home a research it more. Now I’m telling you the same. Get ready to Rock.
