Speaking of Family

The stories that you hear from some of those who speak can move your heart. Today I want to share the story of another person who inspired me this year.  She is a mom to three wonderful boys, married to a wonderful husband. Yet life was not always that great for her.

Natasha Duswalt’s story is one of struggles she went through as a child, losing her mother, and the pain of her family growing up. To hear her tell the story from stage is awe-inspiring. I can’t really do it justice here; you have to listen to it.

So many of those who are on stages today are people who have been through some of the hardest times in life, and yet they lived. They share their stories of struggle, loss, pain, abuse, and they are on stage to inspire you.

It’s amazing to hear the story of how Natasha, in a doctor’s visit, found out she has Hodgkin’s Lymphoma Cancer, then to hear she beat it, and how that changed the lives of her family forever.

The thing I got from hearing Natasha was that no matter what you go through, you choose to make your world better. You change your attitude and have hope no matter what may come that you can make it through it. She now runs Peek Models and Talent in Los Angles. She has written a few books and speaks and shares life with her husband Craig.

Part two of today’s post is about a younger Duswalt. Tyler Duswalt began speaking at events with his father after he wrote a book about how to build a successful blog. He started speaking at age 10, and was able to make several thousands of dollars selling his book the first time he spoke to an audience about it.

The thing that inspires me about Tyler speaking is that his kid’s heart believes he can do anything. The story goes after his first speech he told his parents he had it all figured out; he didn’t need school because he could make enough money as a speaker.

So many people are scared to think about what might not work. At 10 years of age Tyler lost his fear of failure and with confidence said “I can do this.” Tyler inspired me to go back and think like a 10-year-old again. Maybe that is what many of us need to do to create our entrepreneur venture and be inspired.

Today I want to challenge you to write down what the worst thing is that has held you back, then try to clear your mind to think like you did as a eight to 10-year-old with hopes of a future you did not know yet. Let me know how this one goes.
