This week the holiday season is getting started. Tomorrow will be Thanksgiving already. What memories do you have from holidays past? For us this holiday season will mark two years since my dad passed, on New Year’s Eve 2010.

I mention that because of our story today. It was May of 2009 when I received the first warning calls about Dad and his health. He went in for a triple bypass surgery. The night before the exploratory surgery was done I talked with dad on the phone. I’ll never forget that conversation.

Dad was short of breath and had a lot going on at that time. I think he did not know what he said to me that shocked and pulled at my heart so hard. It was just two months after I had bought my first brand new Harley Davidson. Dad said to me, “I wish I’d had the chance to see your new bike.”

At those words I started planning a road trip on the bike from Dallas to the Poconos of Pennsylvania. I was working a job at the time and called to tell my manager that I needed two weeks off because I had to go see my dad. Her reply was, “Why not just fly up and take a few days instead of two weeks?”

All I was thinking was that I had to show dad my new bike because he thought he was not going to make it. If you followed the timeline above, you see that I made it there to show Dad. I was able so spend another 19 months after that with him and he was able to see that bike another time before he passed.

I bring up the bike because this week I am sharing what I use to build my system to success. The motorcycle is a big part of my life and drive. For us, a motorcycle is a vehicle to transport us from one place to another. That is what I want to share about my system.

No matter what you use to build your system of success in life and business, your system is a vehicle to get you there. My bike is my system for transportation, and my new bike is a tool used to take my message to the world.

That bike drives me to success, and I love riding – from the small rides around Texas to the rides I take from here to the west coast. I have ridden to the east coast as well. It is a driving system that keeps me focused on getting what I want in life. I build to ride and I ride to build my business. So what is your tool, what gets you motivated to succeed.

Tomorrow we have a post and a radio show, even though it’s Thanksgiving Day. I am thankful I found something I love to do and motivation keeps me doing it. Tomorrow we’ll discuss motivation.
