Good Monday morning to you. Hope you had a great weekend like I did. It has been a great few weeks in our business as well as our personal lives. We came back from a much needed few days off at the beach to be renewed so we could really dig harder into solving those obstacles that keep us from reaching our goals. Last week the writing about money was also needed; we even took on some new practices here at home and in the office to make sure we are moving forward in our money goals as well. This week we are going to move into the area of what we must do on a daily basis to help us to specifically work to reach those great goals we set for ourselves.

RockStar goals are great. If you have ever been to one of my speaking events, you know that I like to speak about my process to become a RockStar, no matter where you are starting from. I can help you become successful where you are and build from it. I have been to many meetings over the past few weeks, and two things really stuck in my mind that gave me the insight for this week’s theme.

First, someone told me they believe it’s time for the self-help and personal growth industry to get back to its roots. I thought about that and the kinds of things that you would read from the great leaders from our industry’s past when they talked about goals; those fundamental things that help us grow. It got me to thinking more and more about how many times people introduce new ideas, new kinds of growth patterns. They start a following by helping people to make the changes needed.

This works for a while in the lives of people who need it and who follow the ideas given. But that time comes when they run out of energy. So they look for a new way. Soon someone comes along with another new way or fresh idea that has not been tried before. A burst of energy comes out as they get to trying it. But just like before when the results do not come in fast anymore, they soon lose energy and are back where they started.

The second thing I heard was at a meeting with a speaker’s group. It was mentioned that many of the new methods out there and even some of the established teachings (including those of some of the speakers who were in that group) simply are not getting results. By results, I mean they are not producing calls for work. People are hiring those who can provide true, simple solutions that work for everyday problems. This, along with the idea of getting back to our roots, got me to thinking about how many people read my post as well as those of other coaches along with other inspirational blogs and notes. Are they in search of those feel-good, quick-fix options, or are they looking for the products and programs that really solve the root problems and truly fix those problems?

Thinking about these two areas gave me an idea to focus on finding a solution to the problems holding people back, the obstacles that keep people from achieving their goals. Maybe it’s time to stay true to some of the basic, root things that we know work and build from them.

Last night in our dining room, we sat with some biker friends and we actually talked about the tax problems of our country, each of us throwing out some radical ideas to make a change. And this morning over breakfast my honey and I talked about it again. As we talked, we realized that, no matter what we may think is a solution to the problem, if you make a major change in your life or, in this case, our country, there will be some immediate hardships to go through.

So, think about this in your life. If something is not working, and you continue to do things that way, without change, there will be hard times, right? If you make a complete change, or a major change, it will result in a learning phase where you will still have to work the bugs out. So, with that being said, we know that it will at first be an uphill battle. But in the long run those changes will result in a better life.

This applies to our topic last week, which focused on getting out of debt and learning different ways to manage money. Getting out of debt takes commitment and there will be some hard times as you divert money to paying it down. But we know these hardships are bringing us closer to our ultimate goals.

So in this week of posts, let’s look at some things that will keep us going, keep us motivated, help renew us with energy in those hard times. We must look at where we are and do some house cleaning. Take time to look back to a point when things were working. Realize the changes we made that did not work, and maybe set a course to head back there. If we just make that straight clean break, it can cause immediate pain and hardships. Or, just like setting a goal and making a process towards getting to it, take things back a step at a time to see if you cannot find a firm building ground to work from towards your RockStar goals.
