It’s time to wrap up another week’s theme. Each week brings a challenge to me; it takes me to places where I learn new things and try different ways of taking a message and getting people to change. For the most part it works to help me to change and grow to use my talents in a better way. Many times I tell people when meeting them for the first time how this blog is about 1000 words each day. I also spend each day writing, working on a book or new program – usually 500 to 1000 words each day. What I do with these each day is something that most people have forgotten to do in their lives: take a risk.

Yes, it is a risk when I think about how many people will read this each day. Yes, it’s a risk that I may or may not get new readers. Yes, it’s a risk that some people will cancel the subscription to my list each day. But each day I still take all of these risks and more. Why? Because I love what I do. I would rather fail but be loving what I do and building from it to make it better next time than to succeed at doing the same boring thing each day with a meager reward.

In the beginning of this week I told you how I had been watching the protest situations around the country with the Occupy Movement going on. What I usually find when I get to meet these people, or others who believe the same things is they have never taken a risk in their lives. Think about this: if you work for a company – for anyone at all – they took a risk when they hired you and they took a risk when they started up the company in the first place. So now I am going to ask you this: are you asking that boss or company who took the risk on you to give you their reward? Are you willing to get a better result by taking a risk yourself?

In 2012, I will have a 52-week program for coaching people who want to go on a guided path towards reaching a long-term goal or meaningful dream in their lives. Parts of it will be taken from my personal coaching experience with the many clients I have worldwide. The idea is to get many more people to step out and take a risk. Maybe you always wanted to start a small company and provide some service, website, or product online. Maybe you wanted to start a local service company to provide a much needed service to the home owners in the town where you live.

So I ask: what would you pay for 52 weeks of weekly exercises to make this dream come true? What are you willing to give up to make that dream a reality? How badly do you want to change before life changes you? Well, now is the time. If you have looked at my services page and thought “I can’t afford to get a coach,” or thought “What kind of results could I get for that?” now is your time. Contact me through the contact page to apply to be one of the few people who will be allowed in this program.

So to finish up our week, it’s time to ask some serious  questions. This is to get you to think of what you want to do to make the great change in your life. Answer this question: It’s time to think of the gambles you have or have not taken in your life. If you were to plan a trip to Las Vegas and you had $1000 to take with you, how much will you bring back? If you were given $100 and told you could not spend it on anyone else but yourself, what would you spend it on? If you got the call that you’d won the lottery of $40 million dollars, what is your plan to use it to change your life?

The above questions are designed to make you think. Remember the statement that I put on my Facebook page a few weeks ago? “Most people ask a question to get an answer; a coach asks a question to get you to think.” So, do some thinking today; write down your answers and leave space to write notes after them in the coming weeks. After all, we learn the most from our own thoughts. Take this weekend to let the ideas from this week sink into your life, and create the dream life you want.

2011 has less than two months left. Most people shift their thinking this time of year to holidays. I am going to ask if you are planning to set yourself up for 2012. Those who want to have a successful life year after year are reviewing the results from this year, seeing what risks gave rewards, and what turned into a loss. And they are planning how to use that to make the next year better. What are you doing to make the improvements for next year, if you wait till January 1st, or December 31st to make those choices, it’s too late. So what’s your risk? What’s your choice? Where do we go from here?

I’m Tim Gillette, the Rocker Life Coach. It’s time to live the life you always wanted, to love what you do and those you share life with. Make plans to take new calculated risks in the next year, to become the RockStar in your world.
