We cannot talk enough about the people we have in life. So many think this is one of those things they can change and by-pass on the way to success.  Jim Rohn said it best when he said:

You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.

I once heard a man say he could tell where a person would be in five years based on just a few things. What they did with their spare time, what they read, and who they spent their time with.

More and more we hear the word of how others influence us. I watch with such care the people I let influence me, as my mind and my time are the two most valuable things I own. I want to protect them from any form of corruption that can get in.

So in our week devoted to improving now, it’s time to take a look at who is influencing you the most. Yesterday we talked about how a coach could influence you and so could the cheerleader. If you used the words of the cheerleader to build a strong foundation it would cause rough roads. If you had counted on the words of the coach only for encouragement when you felt bad, you also would not get what you wanted.

This is not a post to tell you to get rid of your friends, but to learn who your real friends are. It’s time to use the right tools to build the right things. Another quote from Jim Rohn is:

“You can cut a tree down with a hammer, but it takes about thirty days. If you trade the hammer for an axe, you can cut the tree down in about thirty minutes. The difference between the thirty minutes and thirty days is the tool.”

Those who influence you are tools in building you to the success you want someday. Learn the right tools in your life, if you have set goals to make a difference and change your world like we talked about last week you need the right tools.

I know this post is coming out the day after the election. I have many friends who do not see my political views; over the past few weeks many have posted on Facebook and social media about who they believe will be the best president. The truth is while they are all my friends, I choose not to let those who have a different views and voice them loudly influence my choices.

Don’t let people influence you to do what you are not meant to be in this world. Want to change this area in life and find out more? Check out one of our live events and find other things that are needed to make improvements now.
