So many people who come to me ask, “How do I find my purpose in life?” never understanding that finding your purpose comes with going after the dream. You have to be willing to do the work; you have to go where you are called.

For years of my life I searched and searched to find out what it was that would lead to my purpose; where it was that I was going to make a difference in life by helping others.

If you have read my story you know I spent many years in the automotive business. As a child my dream was all about cars. I could tell you what year and make a car was. I built model cars, I read about cars, yet when it came to fixing the cars I did not know how to do it.

The days came in my younger years that I actually decided to take it to the next level and study automotive mechanics, learn how to do body and paint work. But the more I learned, the harder it got; the more I realized that I did not have the right tools to do the job right; I did not have the cash needed to make it work. I had to learn and learn the hard way.

Over close to 20 years in the auto business, I learned to do many of the tasks or jobs in the auto industry. When I left the business for good in 2005 there was not anything I had not done in automotive area. And I knew I wanted nothing to do with the automotive business any longer.

So why do I bring this up? You see most people can look at the outside of what seems like a great mission in life, what could create a great dream, but they really have no idea of what it takes to work to make that happen.

Just because it’s a purpose, just because you have a dream does not mean that you will always enjoy the work. You need to be willing to do what needs to be done.

This week I am learning more about building my business and how to reach more people with the message you are reading. Not all that I get to do to build my business is fun; not all that I do is what I want to do. But the reward for doing what you are meant to do pays for all of that. I’m reminded of something that Jeff from Life Coach Media said this week: “When you get that smile, it’s worth it.”

I’m Tim Gillette, the Rocker Life Coach. It’s time to live your dream, to love what you do and those you share life with. Are you ready for the next level to become the RockStar in your world?
