This week I wanted to do a series of posts on mentorship so I will take the five days of our week and do a countdown of my top five mentors. Over the years I have had many more than five but we have five days in a week so only the top five could have their stories told. We all need mentors and they come in all shapes, sizes and forms. As I highlight my top five and let you know why they are my mentors, I will also show you how you can connect with all five of them.
Most of these mentors I got to know online long before I ever went to an event they were at, or heard them speak on a tape, or even read a book they wrote. The exception is my number one mentor (who I will reveal on Friday) and who I met before I ever read his books. No matter who you have for mentors in life, you do not necessarily have to sit down and spend face-to-face time with them to learn from them. Some of my mentors I met through their online presences and anyone can learn from them that way as well. Some have books and audio/video learning packages available for you to find out more. With that, let’s get started with number five on my Top Five Mentor List.
Number five on my list of current mentors is right here in my own back yard but I have not had the privilege of meeting him in person. We have been in the same room before, but I’m not a person who runs to the front of a room to get someone’s signature and work to meet a person in that way. I do, however, like it when you do meet someone and find out they are real. Well, this man is real. If you have met or seen Billy Cox on a show (he has appeared on Fox and Friends) or if you have been to an event he speaks at, you will see he is real.
Billy has many online resources that show you how to chase your dream. With books like, The Pink Dream Book, The Teen Dream Book, and The Original Dream Book, Billy works to get you to dream again and I love his approach. He also wrote the book Get in the Game. I post many things about how life is a game and you just need to know how to play it. Billy lives the game. If you get the chance to hear him speak, you see he is down-to-earth. Even if you hear him speak on video, you feel like he is concerned about you.
I sent an email out to each of my featured mentors to let them know what I was doing. I asked if they wanted to share anything special to you, my readers. Billy was the fastest to email me back with additional contact info as well as links to his site which he had just updated. I recommend you spend some time there to see if any of his products or services could take you to the next level in life.
The thing that makes Billy so great to me is that he may or may not have known who I was, but he immediately went to my web site and sent back a few ideas to help me take what I do to the next level. As I mentioned above, he really seems to care about people. I recommend you visit his page, www.billycox.com. You can find him on facebook, Twitter, and YouTube as well. In fact, Billy and I share a mentor but you will need to read the rest of this week’s posts to find out who it is.
So who are your top five mentors in life and can you tell me why? I’m Tim Gillette, the Rocker Life Coach. It’s time to live your dream, to love what you do and those you share life with. Find mentors who will take you to the RockStar Dream in your life.
