From the windy north and west parts of Texas, I want to say good morning to you. If you have been a reader of my blog for some time I also want to tell you thanks for your support. Today is a milestone in my blog. In fact, this week I have hit more than one milestone in this venture that is now a year in the making. For all of you who have been following my blogs, have come to hear me speak, have met with me in person, have purchased a book of mine, or one of the self-help e-courses that I offer, I am going to say it again: THANK YOU.
So why all the thanks? What is the big deal today? Well I’m not bragging; I’m not here today to toot my horn. It’s truly just about saying thanks. It’s about my appreciation to you, my readers, for your support.
For me, today marks my 100th blog post. This week I also reached 1500 followers on Twitter and 200 fans on my Facebook fan page. Last week I released my second book “Songs That Inspire.” So this is a milestone week for me. I am still on the road to where I want to be and I certainly hope my message of spiritual beliefs, rock music motivation, and American pop culture inspiration continues to spread.
There are a few people that I’ve met who teach a similar idea and who inspire me to in this path that I’m heading down. I want to thank them for their support. The online resources that they offer help me to see the path I want to take and the goals I work on each day.
First on the list would be my friend Mike O’Neill, the LinkedIn RockStar – both him and his partner, Lori Ruff. They are a team that has taught me some great ways to keep my Rocker presence on the internet.
Then I would have to mention my friend, Joe Heuer, the Rock ‘n Roll Guru. We preach a similar message; however we are definitely different, like Bob Marley and Jimi Hendrix are different musical icons. Joe taught me that it’s ok to be a cool rock dude.
I also want to mention my blog hero, Steve Scott. He set the bar, too, for posting quality information for you to read and he helped me set my goal of writing a post a day. I was introduced to Steve’s Site, stevescottsite.com, and his lifestyle design got me to come up with my ideal dream life.
There are many others to thank but this post would take too long to read if I did that.
Today we are going to talk about milestones and reaching goals to make the life you love happen. That is the point of today’s post: to set goals and give yourself milestones to hit with dates to achieve those goals. You will miss a few; I was hoping to be at the milestones I spoke of above before hitting the one-year mark of my business. I missed it by two months. So you will miss some of your dates when you set them but you must keep working towards those goals. If you miss the goal date, reset it and make sure your progress is on target to reach the ultimate goals.
Once you reach a milestone like I have this week, then you must take time to do the following things:
1. Be thankful to those who helped you get to that point. I would not be here without the team that helps me produce all my blogs and other writings. My editorial staff and those people who coach me are crucial to my success. I’m thankful for the blogs I read, and those who read and buy my products and services. Thanks also to my parents who taught me to always keep working and never give up.
2. Don’t use this time to take a break. Yes spend a few hours or even a day celebrating your achievement; maybe treat yourself to a reward that is equal to your goal. But this is the time to focus on keeping your momentum to reach your ultimate goals and keep working towards what you want to do. Maybe even use this to put your plans into a faster gear, to be able to reach them.
3. Review the plan and learn from your progress so far. So many times when I choose my weekly blog themes, I want to put something in there about setbacks and barriers, as I did yesterday. You still push through them, but now that you have reached a milestone look at how long it took you, what went wrong along the way, and how can you avoid the same speed bumps again. Get your next steps lined up now and prepare for them using the information you just reviewed about how you got here.
I say all the time, it’s time for you to live the life you always wanted. Well getting there is a journey that teaches you lessons along the way that will further benefit you. You reach the destination by taking it step-by-step and learning from the journey, enjoying the journey, as that is the only true reward you get out of life. So what do you have as a milestone in your life? Where are you going next? Have you enjoyed the journey so far?
