Good Tuesday morning to you. It will be a short week this week because of the holiday. I wanted to talk about a subject that I must deal with each week: Ideas. I work to come up with ideas each and every week for this blog to help with personal growth in your lives as well as my own. These ideas must work with my purpose a coach. They must also must fit with the business line I’m in.
So I’m going to give you some thoughts on the same subject, coming up with ideas for yourself to keep your company, dream, purpose, family and life alive.
Let’s start with a question: When is the last time you had to come up with a creative way for your family vacation? This is the most creative thing that many people do nowadays. We devote ourselves to work; being productive and successful at our job is what keeps the paychecks coming. So let’s say your boss is giving you Thursday and Friday off around the existing weekend and it’s this week. What are you going to plan to make this the best time your family ever had on a vacation?
For us, this is an easy question. After all we live breath and eat motorcycle trips. Currently my partner is on a quest to get a picture of her bike in front of all the courthouses in Texas. This will take a while. But from where we live and even with our limited travel time, we should be able to do this with short weekend trips. (If you want to read more about how she plans this and works this out, read her blog at www.ladybikertravel.com.)
But what if you have a family and you can’t just hop on a motorcycle. What I’m going to do is ask you my readers to send me an email with your short stories about how you would plan this short trip out. Tell me how you would do it, where you would go, where you would stay, how the plan that includes everyone in your family. For some that may just be you and your wife. For some this may mean taking two kids and a grandmother. For some of you it’s just you and your kids because you are raising them alone. Be creative and think of this.
A few rules I’m going to use: You have only four days and must be back to work by Monday. You can only spend cash, no borrowing on credit cards. And the entire family must be involved.
Once we plan this over the next few days we will plan how to creatively solve the problems of your company that is losing value to its customers and investors. After all we need more ideas in America. With that let me tell you an idea I’m working on.
This coming September, we are putting on a life purpose workshop in one of the most creative ways I know of: riding a motorcycle on Route 66. We are going to see things that have been the foundation of cross country travel and learn to relate them to our own life – how we travel in this life on our own roads. If you don’t own a motorcycle, many places offer rentals that you can use for this trip. For more information email me through our contact page and we can get you enrolled for this trip. Our workshop will bring you back home with purpose and direction in your life.
