This week I want go touch on the influence of Hot Rods on American culture, how they changed many a young man’s dream in life. I did my research and checked out how these vehicles influenced an era and then I ranked the top five.
Today we start with the only truck in the class. In 1979, the first of the Monster Trucks was introduced. It was a 1974 F-250 Ford truck, with four-wheel drive large tires, and a towering look. It was built as a promotional stunt for Bob Chandler’s Four-Wheel Drive shop.
This truck started what is now the monster truck craze. There are many duplicates of this truck. When you see one, you can almost hear the announcer on the Monster Truck TV commercial yelling, “Sunday, Sunday, Sunday!” The commercial became just like the old drag racing commercials.
It blows my mind that it started just as a promotional stunt yet created an entire industry. A promotional video Bob created for his 4-wheel shop showed the monster truck crushing cars in a field. It took off to the point these trucks power up in stadiums all over the country.
Talk about thinking outside the box! But when it comes to being an entrepreneur, many people forget to use great ideas like this that could eventually turn into an entire new industry or different path to take your company.
What have you thought about doing that is in the path of what you love to do, and could be used for a promotion for your business?
