We’ve all hit hard times in our lives. We’ve all had the feeling that we just want to quit and give up. Some of us have great reasons to want to quit or give up. For others, it’s just too tough; we don’t want to have to face this adversity any longer. We feel the world is against us, the system we are in cannot be controlled.
It’s day four of our week of reasons to never give up, I had a list of so many things that I could do a month on this topic of reasons to never give up. With only a week I want to give you the solid, hit-in-the-face, wow-it-would-be-stupid-to-give-up reasons.
Today we are going to talk about imagining you are one step away from the great successful gig. The big payoff is about to be there, yet you are thinking of giving up. Let me ask you: is your past starting to haunt you? Maybe you wanted to get off drugs, maybe you wanted to get out of selling drugs.
Well the post today is inspired by the rapper, Curtis James Jackson. You probably know him as 50 Cent. His big hit recording in 2002/2003 was called Get Rich or Die Tryin’. At the age of 12, he joined a gang and began dealing drugs. But he left it to pursue a rap career and, in the process, he was involved in an incident where he was shot at and hit with nine bullets.
So what is the challenge that you feel is holding you back from starting towards a dream? Imagine leaving to start your new career, or actually starting the steps to live your dream. The world you come from is so dark, the idea of people leaving that world is so impossible that those who do get shot at.
The fame of his album Get Rich or Die Tryin’ was something he lived. Now imagine this: what was it that made you feel you wanted to give up? People like Curtis Jackson and many others have risen from the world of drugs and crime to reach levels of success that the people they grew up with could only imagine.
Today you need to remind yourself that no matter how bad it is, I’m sure someone else is having a much harder time than you. So use this reason to never give up.
