So last week I asked my Facebook followers what their favorite Christmas rock songs were. I was given today’s suggestion from an old friend from my high school days. Lisa told me she always thought The Kinks’ song, “Father Christmas” was the best.
The Kinks are a great rock band that I hardly talk about. The song, “Father Christmas,” gets you to think about gifts. The song talks about the store front Santa being robbed and the boys robbing him tell him how they don’t want the gifts but the money.
The song just has a nice, honest feeling of being real. So many story lines in songs just do not feel real. This song does feel real when the boys tell Santa to give their dad a job cause he really needs one.
I hope you took some time this Christmas to give a little more. Another thing I mentioned on my Facebook page was asking people to just give and tell me the story of how they did it.
One of the people who did something great was my friend Roxie. She was asked for a few quarters from someone in her apartment complex for laundry. She had to run into her house to get some so she got an envelope of quarters and in the process made a new friend.
My friend, Dallas, gave a big tip for a hot dog and another after his coffee. It’s good to inspire others to give. If you get the chance, give a little more then you normally would. Don’t stop just because Christmas is over. Let’s become a giving world, but make sure you receive also.
Hope your Christmas was great. This song was not the last one we’ll talk about. I still have one more song that my mom requested. Come back tomorrow and find out what it is.
