I wonder how many people read a title like that and wonder what they are signing up for? As I mentioned yesterday, our world is in real need of the entrepreneur mindset right now.
Yesterday I talked about how we all know of the entrepreneur who starts a business or re-creates a business they get from someone else for their own financial support. Well there are so many other places entrepreneurs are also needed. Don’t just stop with building a business to support yourself!
Today I want to think of the last time you signed up to volunteer for a community event or charity organization. Most of the boards of these events, and organizations do not have a “profit-type” mindset.
A few years ago I attended one of the larger churches in the Dallas area. When I was doing my “observe” mode, I noticed that about half of the pastoral staff at this church were at one time business leaders. They had built a company or organization and then sold it. They left the business world to serve in a church, to help it grow and reach the people they felt needed to be reached.
I bring this up because I know the mission statement of that church was “to reach the unchurched.” So many people I have seen work to start a church have failed because they were going after what some would call the “easy” fruit: those who were already going to a church or in some way showed they were already believers.
Now the church I attended, as I said, was already one of the larger ones in Dallas. That is because of the two things mentioned above. Did you catch that? I wanted to you read into that because if you are working to gain the entrepreneur mind you would have caught those two things already: first, they had entrepreneurial pastoral staff and, second, they looked for ways to reach those who did not attend a church.
So if you are an entrepreneur many great ministries, many charity events and organizations need your creative mind right now to achieve specific things:
1. Ways to raise money to keep the organization going. Raising money is one of the hardest things to do in these hard times. They need a creative thinking mind to get this done.
2. Ways to get people to give of their time and resources to help grow this cause. When I was working with a local chapter of the nationwide motorcycle ministry, Christian Motorcyclists Association, we always struggled to find ways to get people to come to our events.
3. Finding ways to keep strong. There are many people who come to serve and give of their time only to see very small results. They lose hope fast and they need someone with an entrepreneur mindset to help them work through the tough times and who can think of ways to keep those who have the skills to serve committed.
You may not think you are the person who has ideas but I hope that from reading blogs like mine and others’ who write about entrepreneurialism that someday you will start to think of the ideas needed to change our world – and you’ll go out there and take action.

Love to read your postings. I just attended the Exchange Club in Murphy yesterday. Thinking of joining. Your article today goes hand in hand with the speaker there yesterday. Keep up the great work Tim!
