It’s just after 8 pm and this day is winding down. In the winter months the sun sets just after 5 pm and those hours after dark seem to pass by oh so fast. As I am about to close up for the day after working almost 12 hours I remembered I wanted to finish just one more blog post.
Today was one of those days where I want to get so much of what is on my mind and in my plans out and ready for editing. Some may think an entrepreneur is someone who gets up when he wants, works every now and then, and has a large bank account.
Last week I recall one of those online quotes that we put up on Facebook, talking about how an entrepreneur is someone who will work 80 hours a week to avoid getting a 40-hour-a-week job. I got many replies saying we are dedicated people, or it’s always going to be that way and people should understand the price we pay.
Today is our last day in the week of keys you need to unlock your success in 2013. This is the final key I’ll give this week. It’s not that I work all the time, not that I put in long hours, not that I am more in love with my work than with my family. And I do not consider this to be a sacrifice either.
The key is entrepreneurs do what it takes. No matter what the deadline is, we get up and get the work done. When planning for my radio show that aired yesterday, I got a call from my guest for the week, who had come down with the flu. I know what it’s like to go on the air when you’re sick and I would never ask one of my guests to do that.
I jumped to the phones and found someone to make it a great show no matter what. This week I have started the planning for my live events for 2013. That meant I had to make a motorcycle ride up to meet with planners for one event, and it was a cold ride.
My wife and I do not own cars; we borrow her dad’s car every now and then, but for the most part we take our bikes. Yes that means when it’s 22 degrees out and we have a meeting we get on the bike and ride.
So as we finish up this week, let me ask this: do you do what it takes to succeed? Those people who do are the ones who have this key, and yes this key unlocks success.
If you want to succeed this year it’s time to do what it takes. My challenge to you today is to do what it takes. Make a list of events you will attend, then go reserve your spot to attend them. Get yourself started on a reading list, or mailing list of blogs and information that is in line with were you want to go.
I did just that in 2012 and now I have a successful blog, radio show, and successful clients. Take action and do what it takes to succeed. Coming to one of our live events is a great way to get started.
I’m Tim Gillette. Are you ready to live your dream? It’s time to make a change and make 2013 the year you rock.
