It’s time to visit the theme of the Ideal Life again. This is a passion of mine and one of the great ways that I work in the coaching business – to help others create an ideal life. It is a mission, a passion; it is almost like creating your own little heaven here on earth. Growing up I never heard this term, “ideal life.” It was not taught to me; I’m not sure my parents or my teachers ever thought in a million years I would be a person to live this, let alone work to help others reach it.
But today I’m a man who is in his 40s. I’ve been through some ups and some downs. I have been crashed on the floor and soaring on the mountain tops of life. I do not think that life is all fun. As a matter of fact it has some hard times included with it. I do believe you can be joyful while going through this journey in life, no matter what it is that you face at this moment in time. To create an ideal life, you must define what would be ideal for you. You have to realize where you are now, then set a stair-step plan to get there. It is the process to get there where a coach is needed most.
You see, it’s easy to write these things down, you may even get a jump of excitement when you read them. The thing most people just don’t seem to make it past is the actual journey to where you want to go. After all, success is not the goal itself; it is the journey to reach the goal. We all have them, we all want more. The process to actually moving from where we are to where we want to go is what is holding us back.
Today I was reading an article about those entrepreneurs who have become millionaires and billionaires, yet they did not have a college education. It explained how many people get to the 4th or 5th family member who tells them, “That will never work,” and they give up, sometimes going back to working a job they hate just to keep food on the table.
Well if you have great goals in life, you are first going to have to move past two people in your life to create an ideal life. One is your family. If you think you will go somewhere while waiting for their approval, that will be your first failure in creating something. In 1992 while I had no job, no income, I decided to try my hand at multi-level marketing. The first person who gave me the discouraging word was my greatest cheerleader in just about everything else I’ve done in life. My dad was the first to try to get my feet “back on the ground.” After a few years of trying things, my dad always wanted me to have a better life, but was always there to encourage me in what I thought was best. It took time for me to get there from him. You will have to move past your family too.
The second group you will have to move past is friends. I still have old friends that I just don’t get to spend time with anymore. They were quick to jump on the wagon of “that will not work.” When I was in the car cleaning business, I just went out and found other customers. In all my car cleaning businesses, I had two people who were my high paying customers. They both did not do business with me in the beginning. It was when I was off helping others and not hanging around with them that they gave me a call and said, “You need to come clean our cars too.” I love my old friends. If I needed a product or service they provided, I would use them first. I do not wait for others to come around and see my services or products sold. I am about helping those who want my help, not convincing people they need my help.
Getting past those two kinds people in your life will be the greatest part to success in any business you take on. But you are still going to face hard times. No great thing was ever achieved without going through great obstacles.
So have you defined what it is that you would call an ideal life? How much money will you make doing what you love? What will your days be like doing what you love? What will you have to give up in order to achieve this ideal? It’s your life so why not go for an ideal life? Why not learn to create your own heaven on earth?
