Have you ever caught yourself saying the words, “I just wish things would stay the same.” Or maybe you said it this way: “I wish we could go back to the way things used to be.”
Change is going to happen, it is the one thing we can count on.
There is nothing permanent except change. ~Heraclitus
So many times in my own life and many business ventures, I became a person in a comfort zone. Personally, I like to build my comfort zones. The problem is that then I must learn to get out of them and build again. That’s the part that is hard.
Change before you have to. ~Jack Welch
The truth about building the place of comfort is the world is always going to be changing. About six years ago after my home was broken into and my laptop was stolen, I was in the market for anther laptop and did not want a newer one. Too many things about my old computer had become a comfort zone.
Computers and technology are some of the best examples I know to illustrate this point. From operating systems to computer design, they change and change fast. In the past six years I’ve learned three different operating systems. Now, working from a Mac rather than a PC was yet another learning experience.
The world will change. If you want to build a strong business you must learn to change before you have to change. The world that my father grew up in was far different from our world today.
So as we close this week out on change, you must be a person who accepts change. You must look for the places to change yourself and your business because those who change before the world changes them will become the leaders that everyone looks up to.
