music notes From time to time, I am sure many of you do the same thing I do. We start to look at the past and wonder, “What if I had made another choice instead of the one that took me to this path?”

It was 20 years ago that, as a nation, we watched Bill Clinton become president. If you were a Republican, the talk was, “We are in trouble as a nation.” It was the first time in my life I recall the preacher at the church I attended talking about politics from the pulpit.

Here we are 20 years later and President Obama is about to enter his second term. This is not a platform for me to share thoughts about the politics of Democrats. My good friend Jeff would love to see me become a Democrat. But that’s not what this week is about. It’s about the changes happening in our world and how entrepreneurs need to be ready for those changes, ready to use them to change their businesses and the world.

When I think back to the days 20 years ago, I think of many things in my life that were not a concept in my mind at the time. Now they are part of my daily life. The internet was not there; in the early 90s I had no idea that I would have a daily blog or be a writer.

When I think back to 30 years ago, I was in high school and I recall the beginning days of MTV. I loved watching the band Def Leppard; their big album of that year was Pyromania. It’s hard to believe that was 30 years ago.

I bring up Def Leppard during this week when we talk about changes that we make that will be part of the future because 30 years ago the band was touring the world and they had no idea that their next album would be the biggest one in their history. They also did not know the biggest challenges would be ahead of them. Rick Allen was their drummer, who would lose his arm in a car wreck and would still remain a world class drummer.

Changes are going to happen; many things in our world will change in years to come, even more than they have so far. How you handle the changes will determine your success. So stop by this week as I share with you more changes, how to handle them, and use them to build success.

This year I decided to make many changes in my business; my message is getting narrowed to help people better. I am building a system that will change the way many other speakers and coaches will work in our field in years to come.
