We all want that second chance; we made a mistake once and we feel they will just not let us do that again. Ben Affleck made another appearance and it was highly mentioned that it was 15 years since he won his last Oscar.

He made a heartfelt speech and as a result, many of the articles I read talked about how much one can change over the years. I wonder how many people will work at making changes to what they do in life in order to see the award even 15 years later.

This week in our talk of changes in our world, and the view of Ben Affleck on stage shows that over time we all change. We all, with the proper growth, can reach the level of success we want. Will you make that change to improve?

I thought of all the things I’ve grown through in the past 15 years, what I was dealing with the last time Ben Affleck was on stage as a young man. Do you remember the movie? You see, the last time Ben was on that stage was with Matt Damon as one of the writers of the movie, “Good Will Hunting.”

When I work with people, one important conversation we have is when I ask them to tell me about their greatest successes and their greatest failures. Then I ask them how they can correct the failures and build on the successes of their life and business.

Helping people to find success is a tough thing to do. Some people never seem to get back up when they fall as we shared yesterday. Some become successful early and fail at how they handle it. It takes a long time to recover from those mistakes.

When you succeed, how you handle it tells so much about how successful you really are. Now in saying this, I am not putting down Ben, or how his speech this time or last time was interpreted. I wanted to use this to underscore this point: how long has it been since your last success? Have you grown and learned since that success?

How long has it been since you have learned from a failure? Are you daily looking for places to grow in your life and business? No matter the failure, no matter the success, you have to learn from every success and every failure.

This world changes every day, we need to be learning and growing. If you want to make history and change the world it starts with you. Take steps to insure your growth; if you succeed or if you fail, you have to get up and continue to make changes to make history. What will you change in your world this week to make history?
