I know so many people who will be so excited that the kids are headed back to school – the moms and dads who are looking forward to having the free time to get more done around the house.
One of the few inspiring things I have found when starting the online part of my business was seeing those internet moms like Carrie Wilkerson, the Barefoot Executive. I love reading her story and the stories of so many others who find a way to make a living and stay at home with their children.
So if you have just a little free time because your kids are back in school, maybe if you take the time to build a great online business like Carrie did, if you find ways to build a future with your spare time now, it will give you an income later that will carry you to be there when they get back out of school each summer.
In the many places I speak, and with the many people I coach, I teach the idea to build a business with passive income, something that will build as time goes by and give you an income even if you do not go back to work.
So as the kids get back to school, before you head back to finding a job that will require more and more hours, look to taking this time to use your learning skills yourself and build a business that will allow you to work from home, and build an income that will come in no matter where you are.
Here are some things you should be looking towards when making these choices:
1. No matter what business you choose, make sure you have an interest that works together with a passion you have. For example, if you choose a blog for business choose a niche that interests you to keep you writing about it.
2. If you choose a multi-level you need to do the same thing, but you also need to look at the potential for your long-term interest in it. Don’t just choose what is cheapest to get into; make sure you are also passionate about the product or service. You need to have the factor of your passion and your level of investment.
3. Understand that building any business with a passive type income will take time. Most of the people I know who built blogs, or built direct sales, or multi-level businesses took time to build them. In other words do not expect to make six figures in your first three months.
Use these things and understand that if you are strapped for money right now, these are not an immediate fix. First you should consider the things you need to clean out that you do not need in life to get rid of the extra expenses. Check out our other posts about cleaning out the clutter.
