I’m 50 years old. I live in Dallas with my wife, Gwynne. We have three adult kids and a cat named Sefu.
But, I’m guessing that’s not the kind of stuff you’re looking for. You’re probably wondering,
“Is this Tim guy worth my time and attention?”
For many readers, my answer is NO.
Here’s why:
1.
I cannot help you get rich quick.
For some reason, people read “online blogging coach” and think it means “make millions fast online” or “get rich quick.”
I get it. I have been watching people online since 2005 and so many people there say you can make easy money. “Just post online, hire great writers and put on autopilot.”
Sure I can make money much easier online than at many other things I have done, but it’s going to take some work. And you are going to have to do much of the work at the beginning.
Once you build a consistent following and have built an income, then you can set thing up on autopilot and you will make money at this more easily.
So if you’re not willing to do some work in the beginning and not willing to build a consistent habit of writing and creating content, I’m not your guy.
2.
If you’re not willing to market and promote,
you’re not going to enjoy my stuff.
No, I do not teach marketing. I am not another marketing and advertising guru. I am not going to tell you if you just use social media you can promote your blog for free. People are writing everywhere that Social Media is the Marketing Answer. “Just post here and promote there and you will get all kinds of FREE traffic to your site.” Or, “if you follow this new ‘loophole’ you can ‘game the system.’”
Does this work?
Sometimes, and in the short term. But if you rely on that, you don’t have a business. You have an income stream that works for a while, but could come to a crashing end. And that is a waste of time. If you want to waste time go see a movie. It’s more fun.
3.
If you’re looking for “The Easy Way,”
I don’t want to help you.
It’s important you understand what I’m telling you. I can help you, I just won’t. I’m capable of it, but I refuse to do it.
Why?
Because when I hear someone say, “What’s the easiest way?” what I’m really hearing is, “I’m not fully invested in the long-term success of my own business …and am therefore not fully invested in the long-term success of my customers.”
And that really translates to “I don’t want to work.”
Look, blogging on the Internet is HARD WORK. And when it’s all up and running and you have a system built, it can be just like you imagined: making money and even working while you sleep.
But that takes HARD WORK to create and it takes HARD WORK to maintain.
You’re still here?
Good.
Here’s what you can expect from me:
Actionable Strategies and tactics you can use in
marketing your business online now, for free…
Which is usually followed by…
A sales offer
Can you believe I just told you flat-out that you’re going to receive sales offers from me?
Well, why wouldn’t I tell you? I mean c’mon – I’m in marketing online. We make our money by selling stuff. I will try to sell you something and I won’t hide it.
BUT – I will always share with you valuable information and ideas you can use immediately in your business. That part is free.
The idea is to get you to say, “Man, this free stuff really helped me. I think I’ll try the paid stuff.”
Sounds cool, right?
I believe in helping people, and the best way is to show them something that will actually help them, not trick them.
But, you still might be wondering …
How Do I Know If Your Stuff Is Any Good?
Well, the smartest thing to do is to just check me out. If you like what you see, you’ll probably like my trainings. If you don’t like it, you won’t. Simple as that.
I think I’m supposed to do the whole “fancy coach biography” thing now so here goes:
I sold my car wash business in 2004 after a meeting with a personal friend and mentor, Zig Ziglar. Zig told me I would make a great speaker and coach. He then began to share with me how the way I was helping other people in the car wash business was actually “coaching” and people pay for that kind of help.
Even with that kind of advice and support, I took 5 years to follow it. Instead, I went to work for Starbucks as a Barista and Shift Manager.
It was 2009 when I ran into Zig again. I told him then I was going to try out that speaking and coaching thing that he told me about. I would get a hair cut, buy a suit and tie, and start a career in speaking.
Zig Ziglar then gave me the greatest advice ever. He said, “Tim, you would really suck at being Zig Ziglar, BUT you would make a real great Tim Gillette.”
I still did not know what direction to take this. I started with a blog on WordPress.com, building a following. I would spend 2010 to 2014 trying to establish my niche helping entrepreneurs.
In early 2015, while at a mastermind, I was asked, “What are the two biggest things you get asked to speak about?” The answer was Blogging and Branding.
Now I speak and train about creating content online using a blog. I created online programs as well as workshops to help speakers and coaches use a blog as the center point to build their own businesses.
And that’s how I got my start as an “online blogging mentor.”
Here’s What I Will Help You With, Specifically:
My main focus is to help you create online content using a blog. I’m the creator of something called “Interactive Content,” which is a fancy way of saying “writing and creating content that the reader responds to and wants to share for you.”
It is, in my opinion, the Grammy winner of blogging.
I also focus on your branding and positioning – which is really a fancy way of saying, “setting you up as a stand-out leader in your industry.” I do this by helping you be a great you, and positioning you to genuinely help your prospects before they see your pitch. Here’s my first offer to you:
Go to my blog and read some of the articles.
If you like them, sign up for my newsletter.
If they help you, consider buying my stuff when I make you an offer.
.
Pretty simple, right?
Thanks for reading this page and get to work!
