5 Lessons Learned in the world Entrepreneur Marketing Strategies

In 2010, it all started with a simple blog post about cleaning my garage. That one post sparked an idea: success comes from doing one task at a time. Little by little, step by step, you’ll find yourself moving forward and accomplishing goals faster than you thought possible.

Today, I’m sharing the first five of ten lessons I’ve learned over the past 15 years about marketing and getting clients. These lessons have been shaped by building a coaching business, growing a real estate investment portfolio, and developing a website business.

Let’s dive in.

1. You’ll Always Face Disbelief

  • There will always be people who doubt you—family, friends, or even strangers online. Think about that one aunt or uncle who has seen your past attempts and remains skeptical. Yet, they’re often the first people you tell about a new idea.
  • Instead of convincing the skeptics, focus on finding the right audience. Don’t waste time trying to sell car insurance to a kid riding a bike—he’s not your target customer. Learn to identify and connect with people who actually need what you offer.

2. Simple, Easy Domain Names Are Gold

  • Early in our Simple Easy Marketing journey, we realized the power of an easy-to-remember domain name. If people can say it, spell it, and type it, they’ll visit your website. This was our idea behind SimpleEasyBranding.com
  • Repetition is key. The more often your audience hears your domain name, the more it sticks in their memory.

3. Leverage What’s Happening in the World

  • Trends, news stories, and viral topics can be powerful tools in your marketing arsenal. If people are already searching for something related to your offer, meet them where they are.
  • But here’s the catch: be honest. Don’t exploit trends for short-term gains. Build trust by being the person who genuinely helps solve a problem.

4. The Three Keys: Marketing, Advertising, Closing

  • Distraction: In a world overflowing with content, your message needs to stand out. Do something different—something that stops people from scrolling.
  • Value: Your content should genuinely help people. Don’t just sell—educate, entertain, or solve a problem.
  • Call to Action: Every piece of content you create should guide people to the next step. Whether it’s signing up for your newsletter, booking a call, or purchasing a product, make the action clear and easy.

5. Time and Money: The Two Core Motivators

  • Every product or service you offer must do one of two things: save time or make money.
  • Make Money: Show your audience how your offer directly impacts their bottom line. A mindset shift is great, but only if it leads to tangible results.
  • Save Time: People want shortcuts—efficiency sells. Think about those old “7-Minute Abs” videos. They sold because they promised results in less time. Show how your product simplifies a process or eliminates unnecessary steps.
