The End of the Book

The End of the Book

theendWhen was the last time that you had a friend tell you every part of the movie, or the ending before you went to see it? They just talk and talk till they’ve given away the entire story of the movie. Once you have heard that, do you still want to go see the movie?

How many times have you heard the line, “Begin with the end in mind?” It is taught over and over again in the context of setting goals in your personal life as well as your business. The end, or the goal, become the point or purpose, driving you the entire way.

I ask the question many times in my speeches, “What would you do if you could not fail?” I use this idea when setting the goals, and then setting the action steps along the way.

If you want to succeed as an entrepreneur, you must have goals to work with for your personal life as well as your business. That is why I address so many things in both life and business. But entrepreneurs are the one group of people who especially have to face this issue we are covering in this week’s blogs.

We have to deal with the unknown many times, as we are blazing new paths to create the dream we want. Sometimes we need to stop just for a moment and think about the end of the story, then create the steps we need to take along the way to reach that goal.

If we did that as entrepreneurs, then compared each step to see how it lines up with the purpose of the goal, and the task at hand, we might be able to adjust them to be sure they meet our goals. If you read the end of any story first, then so many things inside the story line up and make sense. But life is not that way; you don’t get to know the outcome before you start so you must set goals and make adjustments along the way to make that goal happen.

Are you read to really make that dream come true? Well start with the end in mind.
