Do You Have Your Priorities Straight?

Do You Have Your Priorities Straight?

eagle flying Think of an eagle. We all love to see a beautiful eagle fly. It is our national bird and nothing says freedom of the skies more than watching an eagle fly. Lately many have said that of other birds, but it takes just one time watching the bald eagle fly to admit it just says freedom.

Do you know the story of how the eagle learns to fly for the first time? Now, I have heard it only takes one time for this to happen. The mother eagle flies up really high, carrying the baby on her back and just lets it go to fall to the ground.

It is said that that baby eagle will fall and fall, but the mother bird never worries as the baby opens its wings and learns to fly that first time it is dropped.

Many think that is the way it happens with the entrepreneur, that they are just pushed and pushed by a company to learn all the great things from the corporate world, or from their parents or family. They learned the tools of being an entrepreneur, then were released to just find their wings and take off like that eagle.

Nothing could be further from the truth when it comes to being an entrepreneur. I work with so many who want to succeed, and they ask me time and time again what the secret is. It’s as if they think it’s a formula that is just put together like they are used to having when working at a job.

This week we will cover the idea of planning to become an entrepreneur and today I will tell you that you must have priorities in place to get started. I never advise someone to just leave a job; I tell them to work to make it happen by making a plan.

One of the first things I do with my coaching clients is go over the money, beginning with the responsibilities they have already committed to. They must plan to take care of these things before taking that jump. The truth about that jump is there is no net; you must create your own net.

What are your priorities? What are you responsible for that you must take care of before you can take that jump to live the dream life you want?

CALL to ACTION:

  1. Make a list of what it takes to move from where you are to where you want to go.
  2. Make a list of the things you can cut from your life to make this move with the least amount of pain.
  3. Think about what you are willing to lose to make this success happen.

Get ready for a week of planning to be a successful entrepreneur.
